TOTEM(s) - 2019

Focused on research and the writings of opera and musical theater, TOTEM (s) is part of the vocation of the National Center for Show Writing. It was born in 2014 from a joint desire of Catherine Dan and Roland Auzet, composer and artistic director of the Cie Act-Opus, to set up a research-creation academy, welcoming young authors and composers.

Ensemble Nuance

The ENSEMBLE NUANCE was launched in 2013 by the Basel violinist Malwina Sosnowski.

Contemporary, newly discovered and rediscovered pieces are juxtaposed, experimental media connections and scenic forms of performance are sought. Other arts are integrated across all sectors. Versatility and playfulness, paired with uncompromising professionalism form the self-claim of the ensemble.

Since 2009, the CELLOBASS group in Bern has been organizing large-scale educational and artistic projects every 2 to 3 years, involving 7 music schools: Konsi Bern, Köniz, Aare Valley, Wohlen, Muri-Gümligen, Biel, Bucheggberg. So far, 5 such projects have been carried out.

The actual goal is however much greater: they want to bring people closer to new music.

Rêveries Acoustiques

Les Rêveries Acoustiques is a collective of musicians from improvised and contemporary music.
Created in 2016, the project was born from a musical correspondence between the Swiss pianist Roland Favre and the double bass player Benoît Converset based in Canada. Through collaborations with dance, visual and plastic arts, Rêveries Acoustiques explore different concepts from contemporary music, such as graphic scores and interdisciplinary games.

Ensemble This | Ensemble That (ET | ET)

Swiss based group of 4 percussionists who enjoy performing and producing events together.
In recent years they have established themselves not only as interpreters of contemporary music, but also as collaborators to a wide base of artists, include projects like «eins+eins» and FlatterSOUND with Zimoun, Julian Sartorius, Myriam Bleu, Strotter Inst. Lê Quan Ninh, Marko Ciciliani, Jürg Frey, and Michael Maierhof, among others.

International Summer Academy Biel

The International Summer Academy Biel promotes particularly talented music students as well as young instrumentalists and singers from all over the world in annual master classes held in July. The lecturers are all internationally renowned personalities who hold professorships at Swiss or foreign universities. A special feature of the Summer Academy Biel is the participation of a professional orchestra. Students are thus offered the unique opportunity to rehearse and perform as soloists with orchestral accompaniment.

Johan Smith

Winner of the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) Competition in 2019 and defined as the "Classical Guitar Revelation 2017" by the french magazine "Guitar Classical Magazine", Johan Smith has been invited to perform in renowned festivals, as concert and soloist, with orchestras such as the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, and the Verbier Festival Orchestra. His particular interest in contemporary music has led him to collaborate with several composers.
